AMAL ALLOS’ STORY

I will be walking 5 miles per day  to fundraise on behalf of the Iraqi Christians In Need (ICIN) Charity of which I am a Trustee.

Since Iraq became a war-torn nation, ICIN has dedicated its resources to supplying medical, financial and educational facilities to the displaced and most vulnerable. One of ICIN’s projects is to support the work of a medical team who provides ‘aid to the critically ill’ of which I am trying to help a young man, Harith, aged 21 years.

After he and his family were displaced from the Nineveh Plain a few years ago, they have been surviving on a meagre income. Recently, an accident at home left him with severe burns. This young man was initially cared for in a government hospital but unfortunately, he did not receive the correct treatment and his condition worsened.

Following this, and while he became gradually more depressed and suicidal, the young man was moved to a private hospital for skin grafts and psychiatric care. The daily stay costs $300 in addition to the operations, which would be life saving.

At 78 years old, I will walk 5 miles per day for 2 weeks in order to try and reach my target fundraise of £10,000 to help save this young life in need.
