Opening of the 7 A Side Football Stadium in Bahzani
ICIN received a thank you letter from St. George’s Syriac Orthodox Church in Bahzani for fully supporting the construction of an indoor 7 A Side football stadium for the youth. Refer to our post of August 2019.
In his letter, Mgr Ephram Alkhouri Benyamin, thanked ICIN for the $100,000 support to build the indoor stadium within the property of the church, and confirmed that work has been completed and that the stadium is ready for use. However, although some games have already been played an official opening has been postponed by the Iraqi government and the stadium has been temporarily shut due to the current pandemic. 
The stadium will be a much-needed focal point for the local community and will provide leisure opportunities for the people of and around Bahzani and especially the young among them, for football always has the power to bring joy, hope and connection.
