Day 1

Journey to the Holy Land

We fly from London to Tel Aviv. Meals served in flight. On arrival we will be met by our representative and guide and will be transferred to our hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2

Bethlehem and the Mount of Olives

This morning we visit the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherds’ Fields, then to the top of the Mount of Olives where we have a wonderful panoramic view over the Old City of Jerusalem. We visit the Church of the Ascension, Pater Noster and Dominus Flevit (where Jesus wept over Jerusalem). We take a short walk down the Palm Sunday Road to the peaceful Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. In the afternoon we continue to Mount Zion visiting David’s Tomb, St Peter in Gallicantu and the Upper Room. Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

Day 3

The lowest point on Earth

Full day tour to Masada, visiting the famous summit fortress where the Jewish Zealots held out against the Romans in 70 AD. On the summit you will see Herod’s remarkable palace, the oldest synagogue in the world and a 2nd century church. We ascend and descend by cable car. Later on, we will have an opportunity to bathe in the warm waters of the Dead Sea at Ein Gedi.

 

Then we will be able to explore the excavations of the monastic community at Qumran and to view the cave where a shepherd boy first discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls. Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

 

Day 4

The Old City of Jerusalem

We enjoy a walking tour of the Old City, entering through St Stephen’s Gate to visit the Church of St Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. Continue along the Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa), seeing the Chapel of the Flagellation, Ecce Homo Arch, the Antonia Fortress and the Pavement, before finally arriving at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. In the afternoon we visit the Western Wall. Visit the Garden Tomb. Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

 

Day 5

Jerusalem to Galilee

This morning we visit Bethany to see the House of Martha and Mary and the Tomb of Lazarus. View the Inn of the Good Samaritan before stopping at Jericho to see the excavations and Elisha’s Spring. We continue to Nazareth to visit the Nazareth Village, depicting life as in the time of Jesus. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

Day 6

The Lakeside

We drive along the shores of Galilee to visit the Mount of Beatitudes, St Peter’s Primacy and Tabgha (the Church of the Loaves and Fishes). At Capernaum we will see the early Synagogue and Peter’s House. Finally we have a wonderful boat trip on the Sea of Galilee and visit the place of Baptism on the River Jordan. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

 

Day 7

The Journey Home & Caesarea

After breakfast we leave Galilee and travel to Caesarea to see the Roman aqueduct and amphitheatre. We then transfer to Tel Aviv for our return flight to London.

Passports, Visas and Vaccinations

Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they have a valid passport for travel to the relevant countries and that it is valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. Visas are not required for British Passport holders visiting Israel. At the time this brochure went to press no vaccinations or inoculations are required for travel but you may wish to consult your own doctor for advice concerning this. Further Information And Paying The Balance

Further information will be sent to you regarding any action that may be required approximately 12 weeks before departure. A final invoice will also be sent at this time and the balance for the tour must be paid at least 10 weeks before departure.

Travel Information

Full travel information, including details of meeting points, flight times, accommodation and travel information, will be sent to you approximately 2 weeks before departure. Normally, tickets are not issued but are handed to you at the airport or departure point by our representative who will be there to ensure that you depart without a hitch and to deal with any last minute difficulties.

Travel Insurance

Gratuities

Our normal procedure is to deal with tips on a group basis and these are included in the price. The tour leader will distribute them to the guide, driver and hotels on your behalf. Individual tipping is not recommended unless the circumstances are exceptional.

Room Check In and Check Out Times

The standard international practice is to let rooms from midday to midday. However times do vary. Check-in times are usually between 2pm and 3pm, check-out times between 11am and 12 noon on the day of departure. Therefore, if you check-in immediately after a night flight this would normally count as one night’s accommodation. Similarly if your return flight is at night you will normally be required to vacate your room at 12 noon prior to leaving for the airport.
